Attorneys consider options for replacing demolished building
A group of local attorneys bought and demolished an old vacant building across the street from the Fayette County Courthouse but haven’t yet decided what to build in its place. “We have many options, but we haven’t decided what the ultimate goal will be,” said Uniontown attorney Samuel J. Davis, who bought the building with his brother James T. Davis and attorney Mike Benninger, who has a practice in Morgantown, W.Va.
Together they formed D & B LLC and purchased the structure.
“The initial plan is to get the building down, because obviously it’s an eyesore and it could be dangerous,” said James T. Davis.
“It hurt my eyes when I came around the corner,” said Samuel J. Davis. “It looks better (now) than it has in 50 years.”
He estimated that the building had been vacant for five years after it was damaged in a fire. It once had apartments on the upper floors and offices on the lower floors, he said.
The Davises said they are considering building offices on the site, opening some type of business venture or using it for parking.
They said they hope to decide on a plan soon so work can begin in the spring or early summer.
