Man arrested

Donta Tyrone Thomas, 25, of 45 Steel St. was arrested for possessing anabolic steroids, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, state police said. Fayette County probation officers called police after finding the suspected drugs while searching his home Oct. 23, police said. He was charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia.

He was freed on unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing before District Justice Herb Mitchell Jr.

Charges filed

State police said five counts of burglary, three counts of receiving stolen property, 10 counts of forgery and four of theft were filed against Cheryl Lynn Riggleman, 47, of Waynesburg for incidents that began in November 1999 and continued to the present. Police said she allegedly stole a number of purses from homes and vehicles throughout the county and wrote checks from checkbooks she took from the purses.

Driver injured

Mary Lou McCormick, 52, of Water Street, Greensboro, was treated for wrist and ankle injuries Jan. 29 at Ruby Memorial Hospital after a one-car crash along Route 88, just south of Sugar Grove Church, state police said. Carmichaels and Greensboro fire departments assisted at the scene.

Citations filed

Disorderly conduct citations were filed against William Bennett, 30, of Waynesburg and Buddy Allen Watters, 28, of Jefferson for allegedly fighting in the Koratich Golden Rail bar on Jan. 31, state police at Waynesburg said.

Perry Twp.

Driver cited

Timothy Snyder Jr. of Mount Morris was cited for two traffic violations stemming from a Jan. 25 accident on Route 19, state police at Waynesburg said. He was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered a minor injury.

Franklin Twp.

Man arrested

Clifford Ewing, 52, of Washington was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after a Jan. 27 collision with another driver who was cited for traffic violations, state police at Waynesburg said. Ewing had a blood-alcohol content of .120 percent and suffered a minor injury, police said. The other driver, William Kiddy, 68, of Clarksville, W.Va., was cited for stop sign and yield sign violations, police said.

Stolen car wrecked

A maroon/burgundy 2002 Dodge Stratus stolen from Roberta Quallich of Pitt Gas was found along First Street at 1 a.m. Jan. 25 after the driver crashed it into a telephone pole and fled, state police at Waynesburg said.

Theft reported

Somebody smashed the side passenger window on a car owned by James Errera of Uniontown and took CDs and speakers with an amplifier between midnight Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday along Spring Street, state police said.

Cars collide

Neither Georgetta Garcia of Smithfield nor Joseph Hutson of McClellandtown was injured in an accident at the intersection of a state road and a township road at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, state police said.

Someone put an unknown substance in the gas tank of a vehicle owned by Joy Firestone of Connellsville on Feb. 1 or 2 when it was parked at 762 Rich Hill Road, state police said.

Three hurt in crash

Drivers Jason Kretzler, 26, of Pittsburgh and Mary Shaffer, 50, of Stahlstown, as well Kretzler’s passenger, suffered minor injuries in an accident on County Line Road at 2:38 p.m. Thursday, state police said.

Vehicle stolen

A vehicle owned by Phillip Davis of Connellsville was stolen from Van Drive on Feb. 2 or 3, state police said.

Checks stolen, forged

Five checks reported stolen by Paul Forcier Sr. of Ronco were forged and presented at a convenience store for $80.30 between Jan. 1 and 26, state police said.

Charges filed

Harassment charges were filed against John Robert Mitchell Jr., 43, of Waynesburg for allegedly shoving Teresa Jean Orum, 38, of Waynesburg in her Waterdam Road home Feb. 1, state police at Waynesburg said. Mitchell was lodged in the Greene County Prison after police found he was wanted on multiple bench warrants.

Simple assault charges were filed against Paul Herbert Retcofsky III, 27, no address listed, for allegedly choking a 13-year-old girl for a short amount of time at 6 p.m. Feb. 1 at 31½ N. Main St., state police said.

Someone broke into a car owned by Richard Holloman of Fairbank and stole Sony headphones, cassette tapes, utility knives, a gym bag, Gargoyle sunglasses, a jacket and ball cap Jan. 31 in a lounge parking lot, state police at Uniontown said.

Car crash

Driver Matthew Gene Harris, 20, suffered a minor injury when he struck a tree along Nelson Road at 4:50 a.m. Thursday, state police said.

Theft reported

Two Cobra pool sticks with a combined value of $1,200, Pioneer CD car radio and a snakeskin pool stick case owned by Debra Jo Dodson, 32, of Smithfield were stolen from her vehicle in a bar parking lot between 12:01 and 2:20 a.m. Friday, state police said.

The stolen items were valued at $1,590.

Pair cited

Jeffrey Allen Lilley, 30, and Tammy Sue Crow, 27, both of Waynesburg, were cited for harassment after fighting at building 100 at Mountainview Gardens on Jan. 29, state police at Waynesburg said.

Purse stolen

Heather Murphy of Uniontown told city police that her purse was stolen from her car Thursday morning when she was dropping off her child at a North Gallatin Avenue day-care center. The purse contained credit cards, a checkbook, bankcard and gift certificates, police said.

Bradley Clark of Morgantown, W.Va., was not injured when his vehicle struck an embankment along Route 857 at 10:51 p.m. Thursday and rolled over, state police said.

Matthew Caruso, 29, of Pittsburgh and Anna Rankin, 22, of Carmichaels were involved in an accident on Interstate 79 on Jan. 29, state police at Waynesburg said.

Tires slashed

Borough police said eight tires on two U.S. Postal Service delivery vehicles were cut at the post office at 11 E. Church St. between Saturday and Monday.

Somebody broke into a shed owned by Richard Lewis Louk, 52, at his Second Street home Feb. 2 and stole a shotgun reloader, state police said.

Harassment charges were filed against Christine Mounayar, 19, of Uniontown for allegedly grabbing and kicking Marie Mounayar, 66, of Uniontown at 634 Washington Ave. Feb. 3, state police at Uniontown said.

Somebody stole several items from a hunting cabin owned by Robert James Delansky, 27, of Point Marion along Greene Lakes Road between Jan. 11 and 31, state police said.

Man arrested

David Jamison, 34, was arrested for violating a protection from abuse order after he allegedly grabbed Nina Jamison, 26, by the neck and shoved her Jan. 25, police said. Neither the Jamisons’ address nor the location of the incident was provided.

Car accident

Eric Scott Currey of Waynesburg traveled off Route 19, just north of Brick School Road, and struck a mailbox and trees Jan. 26, state police said. He was not injured.

Monthly report

State police in Waynesburg reported 132 offenses in January, according to the monthly report from the station. Police said 131 of the offenses were founded, 100 were cleared, and 95 criminal arrests were made. Police listed three reports of stolen property, including motor vehicles, and the property was valued at $38,942. Patrol activity included 96 accidents, seven hit-and-runs, three fatalities, 19 injuries, 282 citations issued, 172 warnings issued, 18 drunken-driving arrests, six drunken-driving accidents, 43 motorist assists, 246 other incidents and a total of 517 incidents.

North Union Twp.

Man arrested

George Cornish, 43, of Askren Street, Uniontown, was arrested on simple assault charges for allegedly throwing Angela Petry, same address, to the ground eight times by her head and neck, and kicking her in the back while she was down, state police said. He was arraigned and committed to the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $5,000 straight bail.
