George J. Milligan Jr.
George J. Milligan Jr., 75, of Newell, Pa., died Saturday, February 8, 2003 in his home. He was born December 14, 1927, in Pittsburgh, Pa., son of the late George Milligan and Sophia Shovelin Milligan.
George was a veteran of World War II who served with the United States Navy as a Fireman 1st Class.
He was retired from P &LE Railroad and had served as Union President and Steward for the Brotherhood of Railroad Workers.
George was a member of The Historic Church of St. Peter in Brownsville where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Mr. Milligan was an avid reader and enjoyed bicycling and walking on the Bike Trails in the area.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia J. O’Neill Milligan; five Children: Diane Mizak Milligan of Crafton, Pa., Thomas Milligan and wife, Marilyn, of Upper St. Clair, Pa., Donna Murrman and husband, Gary, of Presto, Pa., John Milligan of Presto, Pa., and Deborah Booth and husband, Jeffrey, of Apex, North Carolina; and six Grandchildren: Nicholette Mizak, Brian Mizak, Kaitlin Milligan, Kelly Milligan, Maureen Milligan and Melissa Gorman.
Friends will be received at the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main Street, Fayette City, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, February 12, until 9:15 a.m. when a Blessing Service will take place.
Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in The Historic Church of St. Peter in Brownsville, Pa., with Rev. Fr. Vincent Gigliotti as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Brownsville, Pa.
Visitation was also held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
