Connellsville Man cited
Connellsville Police will issue citations to the driver of the vehicle that struck and sheared a utility pole early Monday, causing traffic to be rerouted for several hours.
Harry W. Hillen Jr., 28, of Connellsville, was traveling north in the southbound lane of Route 119 when he struck the pole, according to the accident report filed by investigating officers.
Police said they arrived at the scene at 1:35 a.m. and found the 1998 Ford resting against the pole, but they could not locate Hillen.
On Tuesday, at 12:50 p.m., Hillen appeared at the police station and told the officers he was taking medication and had consumed some alcohol prior to the accident.
After realizing he was traveling in the wrong lane of traffic, Hillen told police he locked the brakes, which caused the wreck.
