James F. Stouffer Sr.
James F. Stouffer Sr., 79, of New Cumberland R. D. 2, West Virginia, died Tuesday, February 11, 2003. He was born April 15, 1923 in German Township, Fayette County, Pa., son of Kenneth Stouffer and Nevada Harshman Stouffer.
James was Protestant by faith and attended New Cumberland Free Methodist Church.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army who served during World War II.
James retired from Weirton Steel after 38 years, last working as a First Helper in the blast furnace.
He was a member of Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, Chester Newell Sportsman Club, and the N.R.A.
Infant twin sisters, a sister, Nevada M. Stouffer, and parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Hawk Stouffer, whom he married April 4, 1946; two sons: James Stouffer Jr. and wife, Jacqueline, and Henry Stouffer and wife, Vickie, all of New Cumberland, R. D. 2; three daughters and sons-in-law: Mrs. Walter (Lynn Ann) Wiltrout of Scottdale, Pa., Mrs. Fred (Mary) Fletcher and Mrs. Donald (Carole) Foltz Jr. all of New Cumberland R. D. 2; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; four brothers: Wayne Stouffer of New Cumberland R. D. 2, Paul Stouffer of Scottdale, Pa., Jerry Stouffer of Chester R. D. 1, Pa., and Earl Stouffer of Scottdale, Pa.; five sisters: Margaret Schwab of Scottdale, Pa., Janet Pawlikowsky of Mount Pleasant, Pa., Myrtle Geyer of Mount Pleasant, Pa., Roberta Geyer and Carole Kieger both of Connellsville, Pa.
Friends will be received in the NIXON FUNERAL HOMES INC., NEWELL CHAPEL, 614 Washington Street, Newell, West Virginia 26050 today from 2 to 9 p.m. where Services will be held Monday, February 17, at 10:30 a.m. with Minister Sherrill Fritts officiating.
Interment will follow in New Cumberland Cemetery where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will accord Military Honors.
Visitation was also held Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m.
