Playford Burdette Crowe Sr., 90, of Madigan Avenue, Morgantown, West Virginia, died Friday, February 14, 2003 in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown. He was born July 13, 1912 in New Geneva, Pa., son of Charles Crowe and Della Provance Crowe.

He retired in 1980 as President of United Mine Workers of America District 31, a position he held from 1977 to 1981.

He was also U.M.W.A. District Representative for Consol Arkwright #1 Mine for 13 years, Board member of U.M.W.A. District 31, member of Morgantown Elks Lodge No. 411, and former member of the City of Morgantown Police Department.

His wife, Thelma Hahn Crowe, their son, Playford Burdette Crowe Jr., a brother, Kenneth Clayton Crowe, and his parents preceded him in death.

Friends may call at DERING’S FUNERAL HOME, 156 Foundry Street, Morgantown, West Virginia, today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday, February 17, at 1 p.m. with Dr. Stacy L. Groscup officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New Geneva, Pa.
