Fred D. Felong
Fred D. Felong, 74, of Uniontown, Pa., and a longtime resident of Smock, Pa., died on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at home. He was born on December 23, 1928 in Oliver Two, Fayette County, Pa., a son of Frank Felong and Josephine (Wojtanowicz) Chesler Felong.
Fred was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown.
He served his country during World War II with the United States Navy.
He and his wife, Lillian, had owned and operated Fruitland Market since May 1967.
Two years prior to that they owned and operated Chesler’s Market.
Fred was a dear and caring person whose honesty and integrity will be remembered. He loved his family and spent many peaceful hours working on his farm, taking great pride in everything he did!
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Mary Chesler, Matthew Chesler, Emily Liptak, Theodore Chesler, Lanny Chesler, Adrian Chelser, Albin Chesler, Audrey Felong and Daniel Felong, three nephews, four nieces, two great nephews, seven brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joseph Liptak, Vince Pergalske, John Franks, Donald Crable, Phyllis Chesler, Beatrice Chesler, Clara Chesler, and his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lillian (Kucharzyk) Felong; three sisters: Estelle Pergalske of Uniontown, Pa., Sylvia Franks of Annapolis, Maryland, and Marlene Crable of Uniontown, Pa.; 21 nieces and nephews; and 17 great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 139 West Fayette Street, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 19, until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, with Rev. Fr. James A. Popochock as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103, Hopwood.
St. Joseph’s Parish Ministry of Consolation will recite the Rosary in the Funeral Home this evening at 7:30 p.m.
