Carport collapses
Dorcas Hall of 13 Mount Vernon Ave. told police Monday that heavy snow caused the roof of her carport to collapse on to her vehicle.

Upset motorist
City police were dispatched to Gallatin Avenue and Main Street on Monday for a disturbance call from city snow removal crews Monday after they encountered a motorist who was upset because he almost crashed his vehicle into their snow plow equipment.

Parking complaint
Diane Shaw of 89 Lenox St. told police Monday that she shoveled the snow from her parking spot Monday and after she left to go shopping someone parked in her space. Police told Shaw that “it’s a public street” and unless the vehicle was abandoned they couldn’t have it towed.

Vehicle bumped
Larry Gates of 44 Cleveland Ave. told police Monday that his neighbor bumped his car after an argument over a shoveled out parking space. Police said Gates shoveled out two parking spaces and his neighbor used one of the spaces so Gates blocked her in and wouldn’t move after she asked him to. After police arrived Gates moved his vehicle. No damage was reported to either vehicle.

Virgil Krepps of 132 Walnut St. told police Monday that his 1981 Mercury was damaged overnight.

David Hennessey of 206 Main St. told police Monday that shots were fired at 11:41 p.m.

Vehicle disabled
City police responded to a disabled vehicle call at 1:45 p.m. Monday at Berkeley Street and South Mount Vernon Avenue. Police pushed the vehicle off the road.

Johnathan Strosnider of Connellsville Street told police Sunday that someone tried to break into machines at the car wash on Connellsville Street.

Sam Murphy of Mount Vernon and Wood Street reported Sunday that a vehicle driven by Terrence Jackson of Goose Creek, S.C., slid on the snow-covered road and struck a utility pole.

Joshua Belczyk, no address given, told police Sunday that someone took his cell phone from the VIP Lounge at the Mount Vernon Inn.

Juvenile arrested
City police filed charges with juvenile authorities Sunday against a Uniontown youth for unauthorized use and driving without a valid driver’s license. Police said the youth took his aunt’s vehicle without permission.

Pole struck
State police said Roger Baxter, 55, of Gibbon Glade was not injured when his vehicle struck a utility pole along Route 381 at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 19.

Property stolen
Ronald Elwell, 35, of Dickerson Run told state police that someone broke into his garage and stole property. Also, Richard Cole, 19, and Donald Harshman, 71, both of Dickerson Run, told police that someone stole property from their vehicles along Union Street. State police said the incidents occurred between 1:30 and 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Man killed
State police at Waynesburg said Kalah Cheek, 20, of Wind Ridge died from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident Tuesday. According to police, vehicles driven by Richard Cheek of Wind Ridge and Donald Burnsworth of Dunbar collided on Route 18 at 11:10 a.m. Police said Greene County Coroner Mary Lewis pronounced Kalah Cheek dead at the scene. Police said Richard Cheek suffered minor injuries. Burnsworth was not injured, said police.
