Thelma E. Price
Thelma E. Price, 80, of Hibbs, Pa., passed away Sunday afternoon, Feb. 16, 2003, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. She was born May 24, 1922, in Florence, S.C., daughter of the late Lafayette Cooper and Jannie Gregg Cooper.
Thelma was a graduate of Redstone High School, Class of 1940, a former member of John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church, and presently was a charter member of Interfaith Assembly for Christ Church of Uniontown, Pa., where she served on the Stewardess Board, and the Malisa McShan Missionary Society. She was also a member of Alpha Chapter No. 71 O.E.S., F.&A.M., of New Salem, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frederick D. Price Sr., on Dec. 25, 2001; three brothers, William, Harold and Thomas Cooper; and two sisters, Meriel Mondy and Lydia Mae Gray.
Surviving are two children, Frederick D. Price Jr., and wife, Ann of Mitchellville, Md., and Yvonne “Bonnie” Price of Hibbs, Pa.; one granddaughter, Anne Monique Price of Mitchellville, Md.; four brothers, Lafayette Cooper and wife, Benna of Takoma Park, Md., Willard Cooper and wife, Ella of Washington, D.C., the Rev. Dr. J. Jerome Cooper and wife, Diane of Voorhees, N.J., and the Rev. Dr. Quincy Cooper and wife, Jean of Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Barbara C. Miller of Columbia, Md.; one godchild, Derrick Mondy of Washington, D.C.; a special nephew, John “Chuckie” Thomas Jr., of Hibbs, Pa.; and other nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main St., Uniontown, Pa., today from 5 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Howard Dantzler officiating. Interment in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa. Ritualistic Services today at 7 p.m., in the funeral home.
