Eura “Rip” Rogers
Eura E. “Rip” Rogers, 79, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully Saturday, February 22, 2003 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on May 25, 1923 in West Brownsville, Pa., a son of Eura H. and Ganiel A. (Miller) Rogers.
“Rip” was a former member of the First Christian Church.
During World War II he served his country with the 24th Base Headquarters Air Base Squadron in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations.
He was a licensed Pilot and owned three airplanes, one of which he restored completely by himself.
He loved to fly and build model airplanes.
He was a member of Experimental Aircraft Chapter No. 45, Laurel Highlands Radio Control Airplane Club, General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood, Pa., American Legion in Fredericktown, Pa., and the V.F.W. in Champagne, Illinois, and past member of the AMVETS Post 103 Bowling League.
A very kind man, wonderful husband and super father and grandfather, the memories of happy times shared will remain in our hearts forever!
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Donald Rogers and Eugene Rogers, and two sisters, Gloria Rogers and Jane Rozum.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Vera (Melchi) Rogers; a daughter, Barbara J. Rozgony of Findlay, Ohio; two grandsons: Dave Rozgony of Columbia, Maryland, and Michael Rozgony and wife, Kristin, of Uniontown, Pa.; a sister, Faye Williams of Hazelton, Pa.; many nieces and nephews; special neighbors and close friends, the Cuppett Family; and his beloved pet, “Maddie”.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa. today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, February 25, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Jones officiating.
Entombment will follow in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Sylvan Heights Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103, Hopwood.
