Raymond H. Griffiths
Raymond H. “88” Griffiths, 75, of Connellsville, Pa., died Sunday, February 23, 2003 in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg, Pa. He was born September 26, 1927 in South Connellsville, Pa., son of Ray Griffiths and Betty Warmuth Griffiths.
Ray graduated from Connellsville High School Class of 1945 and attended Carnegie Mellon University.
He was a retired Parts Manager for the former Patrick Dodge in Connellsville.
Ray was an accomplished Musician and Pianist. He played for the well-known Wally Gingers Orchestra for many years, throughout the area at many private parties and events, and regularly at the Pleasant Valley Country Club prior to his retirement.
Ray was a Veteran of the United States Army.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. in Connellsville, B. P. O. Elks No. 503 in Connellsville, King Solomon’s Lodge No. 346 F. & A. M., and Syria Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., and social member of the Independent Slovak Club in Connellsville.
His first wife, Jean Staines Griffiths, one sister, Audrey Brooks, one brother, Williams Griffiths, and parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Sandusky Griffiths; one daughter, Carla Griffiths Cooper and her husband, Michael Cooper, and one grandson, Michael Cooper Jr., all of Hollywood, Florida; two sisters-in-law: Diane Zakaitis and her husband, Charles, of Oceanside, New York, and Marion Battle and her husband, Nick, of Miramar, Florida; two brothers-in-law: Robert Sandusky of Connellsville and Robert Staines and his wife, Marge, of Connellsville; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special caretaker, Betty Yauger.
Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, February 26, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Juengel officiating.
Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa.
B. P. O. Elks No. 503 will conduct a Memorial Service in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
