Panic-attack group to meet Chestnut Ridge Counseling Services Inc. will begin a panic-attack group, which will be held at Chestnut Ridge Counseling Services, 100 New Salem Road, Uniontown.
The group will meet on Thursdays, beginning March 6, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The group will focus on providing training in relaxation, panic reduction, desensitization, interpersonal skills (assertiveness and communication, self-esteem, nutrition) and cognitive skills, as well as several field trips related to exposure therapy.
Anyone interested in attending the group should call 724-437-0729 to schedule an intake anytime prior to March 6.
Support meetings slated
Albert Gallatin Home Care & Hospice is sponsoring caregivers’ support group meetings that are designed to refresh, encourage, educate and offer emotional support to any individual who is providing care to another.
The meetings are free and open to the public and are held the second Tuesday of each month. Meeting times are from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and are located in Albert Gallatin Home Care & Hospice’s second floor conference room, 20 Highland Park Drive, Uniontown, near the Cherry Tree Alliance Church and the Cherry Tree Nursing Center. Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to call in advance to enroll.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11. The topic will be “Spirituality” and will be presented by Sister Bernadette Carlow, spiritual counselor, Albert Gallatin Home Care & Hospice. Light refreshments will be served.

Daffodil Days set
Fayette County residents can call now to place their orders for daffodils. Bunches of 10 flowers cost $7 or a vase with flowers is available for $12.
Residents can contact the Fayette County unit at 724-437-0545 to place orders. Daffodils will be distributed on March 18 and will be available for individual purchase at three sites throughout the area, including Brownsville Hospital, Uniontown Hospital and Uniontown Mall.
“We’re anticipating thousands of daffodils being ordered by Fayette County residents and organizations for delivery during the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days March 18-23,” said Debbie Petrowski, Fayette County Daffodil Days chairman.
“Our local group is to raise $20,000, and we’re confident that our residents will support us again, as they have in the past.”
Businesses that would like to participate by selling to employees or by being a sale site are asked to contact the American Cancer Society, Fayette County unit.
The daffodil is the first flower of spring, the flower of hope for cancer patients and their families. Proceeds will fund the American Cancer Society’s cancer-control mission.
The donations will help the society achieve its mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.
Services and programs in Fayette County include a “Look Good … Feel Better” program that provides beauty tips to people undergoing cancer treatment, “Reach to Recovery” which matches up women who have had breast cancer with newly diagnosed patients, and a partnership with transportation services in the county that helps transport cancer patients to their treatment. Blood drive set
Trinity Lutheran Church, 126 E. Fairview Ave., Connellsville, will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, in the church social room.
