Howard D. Hartley

Howard D. Hartley, 57, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 11:10 a.m., on Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa., after a brief illness.

He was born Aug. 18, 1945, in Cumberland, Md., a son of Mary E. Barnes Hartley of Carmichaels, and the late Hartford Duane Hartley.

Mr. Hartley was a graduate of Cumberland Township High School, Class of 1964, and attended Waynesburg College and Hixson’s Floral School at Cleveland, Ohio. He resided in the Carmichaels area all of his life, and was a member of the Jefferson Baptist Church. Mr. Hartley managed Flowers by Howard since October of 1969.

His wife, Jeane M. Little Hartley, whom he married on Aug. 12, 1972, survives. Also surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are a son; a granddaughter; a sister, Mrs. Ted (Marlene) DeFrank of Rices Landing, Pa.; his maternal grandmother, Lula Barnes of Carmichaels; a niece, Candace Clark; a nephew, David DeFrank; a great-nephew; a great-niece; and two aunts, Alverta Hall of San Diego, Calif., and June Zalar of the State of Virginia.

Friends will be received in the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine St., (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hour of service, in the funeral home. The Rev. John R. Dorean will officiate. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either the Jefferson Baptist Church, PO Box 218, Jefferson, PA 15344, or the American Cancer Society.
