Police probe Saltlick Township man’s death
State police said they are continuing their investigation into the Sunday death of a Saltlick Township man. Steven D. Wingrove, 41, of 1765 Indian Creek Valley Road died of an apparent gun shot wound, according to Fayette County Coroner Dr. Phillip E. Reilly.
Reilly declined to comment Tuesday about the details of the case or the type of weapon used and referred questions to investigating officer, trooper Scott Krofcheck.
“It’s still under investigation,” said Krofcheck, also declining to offer any additional information.
He is survived by his parents, Theodore and Donna Jean Williams Wingrove of Connellsville; four brothers, Roger L., Robert A., and Marcus H. Wingrove all of Connellsville and Thomas G. Wingrove of Normalville; a sister, Mrs. John (Sherry C.) Greenawalt of Connellsville; and his girlfriend of 16 years, Pamela Striker.
Friends will be received at the Brooks Funeral Home Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville today and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and until 11 a.m. Friday.
