Brownsville board approves calendar change
The Brownsville Area board of directors approved a revised 2002-2003 school calendar Wednesday. Make up days for inclement weather are June 9 through 13. The last day of school and commencement for seniors will be June 13, unless inclement weather prevails and additional days are required under the Pennsylvania school code.
Act 80 Days are March 12, and May 17. Teacher in-service days are June 16 and 17.
In other business the board,
Approved an after-school tutoring program in the three elementary schools. This program will be paid from the 2002-2003 Title I funds at a cost of approximately $10,000.
Designated Michael Huth, business manager and Shelley Williams, bookkeeper as the districts “Super User” for Online Banking with the authority to grant to themselves and other individuals access to and the right to perform transactions affecting all of the district’s deposit, loan and other accounts.
Approved a request from Hollie Glumac, middle school guidance counselor, to accompany 155 eighth grade students to a Career Workshop at Divito Park on March 6. The cost to the district will be transportation.
Approved a request from Louise Cox, Gateway teacher, to accompany ninth and tenth grade students to the Penn State Fayette Campus to participate in a math competition solving 20 engineering applications of math and a program related to careers using math and science. The cost to the district will be transportation.
