By Jackie Beranek 1 min read

City police charged Oscar Stokes, 21, of 414 Morgantown St., with three drug related charges on Tuesday. Detective Phillip W. Jones filed charges against Stokes for possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance at District Justice Mark Blair’s Uniontown office.

According to police, officers observed Stokes while on routine patrol on Braddock Avenue.

Jones said, “The driver of the vehicle (Stokes) made a rapid turn onto Claredon Avenue, through an alley. We caught up to him and stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Lebanon Avenue. As we approached the vehicle, Stokes opened his door and immediately became belligerent and would not look us in the eyes.”

Jones said when Stokes was ordered out of the vehicle he appeared “very nervous” and continued to be belligerent.

“When we padded him down, we found two individually wrapped pieces of cocaine in his left front jean’s pocket,” said Jones. “Altogether, we found about 5 grams of crack cocaine, 5 grams of base cocaine and a small baggie of marijuana.

Stokes faces a preliminary hearing before Blair at a later date.
