Hanula said Newlon told police that Ewing entered her bedroom and struck her on the top of her head several times with a clinched fist.

Police said when Ewing was taken into custody and searched they found a homemade metal smoking devise used to inhale crack cocaine in his front left coat pocket and a blue kitchen knife sticking out of his baseball cap.
