Acme man’s hearing delayed
BULLSKIN TWP. – A preliminary hearing for a local businessman who allegedly assaulted a customer after he entered a car dealership and questioned his account balance has been continued before District Justice Robert Breakiron. George C. Emerick, 55, of Acme, the owner of George’s Trading Post, was charged by state police with simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief involved with the Nov. 4 incident.
Attorney Sam Davis of Uniontown is representing Emerick in the matter.
According to the criminal complaint filed by state police, Emerick grabbed Dennis Cavanaugh of Scottdale by his arm and threw him on the ground inside the dealership office after he questioned being overcharged for unspecified services.
The complaint further states that Emerick then kicked Cavanaugh in the back and dragged him across the floor.
Police said that Cavanaugh was treated at Frick Hospital in Mount Pleasant for injuries he sustained in the incident, including a bruised arm and lower back.
Fayette County Assistant District Attorney Mark Mehalov is presenting the case against Emerick.
A new preliminary hearing date has not been set.
