Barney Conn, 77, of Uniontown, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, in Uniontown Hospital.

He was born April 20, 1925, in Ruble Mill, Pa., the son of the now late, G. Leroy Conn and Edna Whoolery Conn.

He was a retired maintenance employee of the Uniontown Area School District.

He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and the Paul Tarcy Sunday School class, and a member of York Run Grange No. 1699.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the Asian Theater. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 0945 of Wormleysburg, Pa.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Shoaf Conn; the following children, Stan Moody and wife, Shelly of Montana, Debra Boyle and husband, David of Alabama, Jim Moody and wife, Heather of Uniontown, and Edna Heffer, George Conn, John Conn and Wendell Conn; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Norman Conn; and one sister, Lucille Conn Everly.

Friends will be received in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME, OF SMITHFIELD, PA., today from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jay Hurley and Pastor Donald Walls officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Moriah Baptist Cemetery, c/o of Darla Early, Smithfield, PA 15478.
