Frances Muscavitch
Frances Muscavitch, 78, of California, Pa., died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, in Washington Hospital, following an illness.
She was born Sept. 18, 1924, in Ellsworth, Pa., daughter of World War II Veteran Frank Karney, who died in 1925, and the late Pauline (Karney) Kianica.
She was raised primarily in California, Pa., and was graduated Salutatorian of East Pike Run High School in 1942.
She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, where she had been active in her younger years. She had been employed at Charland in Speers, Pa., and was a member of the Democratic Women’s Club in California, Pa.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Edward Muscavitch; the following children, Michael A. Horvath and wife, Jill of Port St. Lucie, Fla., James D. Horvath of Canonsburg, Pa., Robert T. Horvath of California, Pa., and Donna Longhi and husband, Patsy of Weirton, W.Va.; grandchildren, Olivia, Nicholas and Pasquale Vincent, all of Weirton, W.Va., Kelly and Bobby Horvath of California, Cassandra Horvath of Delaware, Joanna (Chris) Szalay of Delaware, Tracy (Paul) Tencer of California, and Christie (Mike) Coller of Palm City, Fla. Also surviving are her oldest sister, Helen Zubic of Venetia, Pa.; seven nieces and two nephews; stepchildren, Edward Muscavitch and wife, Mary Ellen of Clarksville, Pa., Mavis Haladyna and husband, Rudy of Clarksville, Pa., and Lorraine Hanyok of Jefferson, Ohio; six stepgrandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Stephen and Emil Walko; and sisters, Marge Lacotta and Mary McCain.
Family will receive friends in the MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth St., California, PA 15419, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, and until 9:30 a.m., on Friday, when a blessing service will be held, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, with the Rev. Fr. Mark Skertich as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
