Michael S. Shandor

Michael Stephen Shandor, 91, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Uniontown Hospital. He was born March 26, 1912, in Lambert, Pa., the son of the late Michael and Verona (Liska) Shandor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen (Sibel) Shandor in 1970, and his second wife, Leah (Bennett) Shandor, in 1994.

Michael was Catholic by faith. He was a coal miner and retired from the Banning Mine in the 1970’s. He was a member of the UMWA, and enjoyed the outdoors and motorcycles.

Michael is survived by children, Monica Garbutt of Uniontown, Rebecca Bailey of Colorado, Carol Duke of Brownsville, Pa., and Ruth Natale of Virginia; stepchildren, Thomas Hartberger of Colorado, Diane Thompson of Belle Vernon, Pa., Lois DeBartolomeo of Rostraver, Pa., and Kathy Lamas of Colorado; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, George Shandor of Rostraver, Pa., and Charlie and Andrew Shandor of Brownsville, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are private and were announced by the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown.
