Barney Conn, 77, of Uniontown, Pa., died Tuesday, December 31, 2002, in Uniontown Hospital. He was born April 20, 1925, in Ruble Mill, Pa., the son of the now late G. Leroy Conn and Edna Whoolery Conn.

He was a retired Maintenance Employee of the Uniontown Area School District.

He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church and the Paul Tarcy Sunday School Class, and a member of York Run Grange No. 1699.

A Veteran of World War II, he served with the United States Army in the Asian Theater. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 0945 in Wormleysburg, Pa.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Shoaf Conn; the following children: Master Sgt. (USAF) Stan Moody and wife, Shelly, of Montana, Debra Boyle and husband, David, of Alabama, Jim Moody and wife, Heather, of Uniontown, Edna Keefer, George Conn, John Conn and Wendell Conn; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Norman Conn, and one sister, Lucille Conn Everly.

Friends will be received in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME OF SMITHFIELD, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where Services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2003 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jay Hurley and Pastor Donald Walls officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mount Moriah Baptist Church, c/o Darla Early, Smithfield, PA 15478.

Visitation was also held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
