ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, corner of Beeson Avenue and Dunbar Street in Uniontown, will celebrate Epiphany Sunday with Holy Communion at the casual 9 a.m. service. Praise choruses and hymns will be offered, accompanied by Sharon Brown. The Rev. Thomas E. Brown will give the message “Ways of Living.’ Sunday school classes for all ages are at 9:45 a.m. The traditional 11 a.m. service will include Holy Communion, Rev. Brown’s message, special music by the Asbury Chancel Choir, directed by Bill Dreucci, offertory by Barb and Paul Cramer and Becky Johnson and organist Jim Hutchinson. Loving Nursery Care is available for infants and children under 4. Children’s church is available for all children age 4 and under. Asbury Chancel Choir will rehearse from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. Kevin Milliken, a senior in the School of Music at Penn State University, will present a piano recital of classical, jazz and sacred music in the sanctuary at 2 p.m. A reception will follow the recital. Asbury United Youth Fellowship will meet from 6 to 8:15 p.m. for youths in grades six to 12.
BROWNSVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHARGE will observe the second Sunday of Christmastide and Holy Communion when the Rev. Paul E. Wilson Sr. speaks on “Confidence in God.’ Worship is at West Bend at 8:30 a.m., South Brownsville at 10 a.m. and Brownsville First at 11 a.m. South Brownsville offers Sunday school for adults at 9 a.m. and children at 10 a.m. while Brownsville First offer Sunday school for adults and children at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday is Epiphany. Wednesday, the choir meets at First Church at 7 p.m. Thursday, Weight Watchers meets at 5 p.m. at South Church.
Special notice for South Church: Beginning Jan. 11, Sunday school for adults and children will both begin at 9 a.m. The 10 a.m. worship service at South Church will be held in the educational building in the last room on the left. CHRIST CHURCH, a parish in the Anglican Communion, 319 Church St., Brownsville, announces worship at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, adult Sunday school will be at 9:15, and intercessory prayer is at 10:15 a.m. in the sanctuary. KIDSCHURCH resumes on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 10:25 a.m. in the rectory. HOLY TRINITY ORTHODOX CHURCH, 91 S. Mill St., New Salem, announces in keeping with the Julian calendar, the church will observe the Nativity of Jesus (Christmas) this coming week. Almost a century old, this church lives according to the Julian calendar, and the parishioners hold to the tradition that was given to them by their ancestors and forefathers – the founders of the church. Services are as follows: The Grand Compline, which is the Eve of the Nativity, will be served on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Divine Liturgy for the Birth of Christ will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Archbishop Kyrill will celebrate the Divinity Liturgy assisted by the Rev. Vitaly Dudkin, pastor. Following Divine Liturgy, there will be a coffee hour in the church hall with the singing of traditional Russian carols.

ROSCOE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 300 Main St., announces the New Year will begin Sunday with the celebration of the sacrament of Holy Communion at the 11 a.m. service. Dr. John Rankin is title “Simeon’s Song.’ The chancel choir, directed by Mary Catherine Schmidt, will sing, accompanied by pianist Tina Bolin, who with organist George McFayden, form the instrumental praise team for the service.
Faith Seekers, the adult Sunday school class, which meets in the manse, begins at 9:30 a.m. This week’s discussion will be on the Book of Esther as part of the yearlong study of Women of the Bible. The coffee pot is on for the group. Sunday school for children three and up begins at 9:45 a.m. in fellowship hall, led by the Sunday school staff of Linda Mudry, and Penny and William Stanick.
ST. HUBERT ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 9 Sadler St., Point Marion, which recently had its church building destroyed by fire, will continue to offer weekday Masses at 9 a.m. in the CCD Center, which is situated behind the church. Weekend Masses will continue to be held at the Lions Skating Center on Railroad Street until further notice. They will take place Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 8 and 11 a.m.
The Rev. Joseph Sredzinski, pastor of the 108 families who make up the parish, will continue his weekly radio program, “That You May Believe,’ over WMBS 590 at 6:05 p.m. Sundays. Religious instruction for students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade will resume on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 9:30 a.m. in the CCD Center.

Life in the Spirit Weekend, Feb. 20-22, is a weekend of seminars on the Holy Spirit with prayer. Registration is required. Pentecost Charismatic Mass is Sunday, May 30, at 3 p.m. Participants are to wear red. At 2:30 p.m., red balloons will be filled with helium. No registration is needed. July 4 Charismatic Mass and Picnic with Mass at 1 p.m. in the picnic area of the friary. No registration is required. Participants should bring their own table settings, food and drink.
TOURS PLANNED: A religious tour of France is scheduled for April 12-21 with several days at Lourdes, the site of the miraculous grotto where the Blessed Mother appeared to St. Bernadette. Participants will be able to go to the baths, take part in the candlelight procession and share in the Masses and devotions. The group will also visit Paris, Lisieux and Nevers.
The Rev. Anthony Ditto, pastor of St. Mary Church in Brady’s Bend, will be spiritual leader for a tour to Italy May 23 to June 2. This tour will include Rome, Naples, Sorrento, Assisi (tomb to St. Francis), Loreto (location of the Holy House) and San Giovanni Rotondo, the tomb of St. Padre Pio.

UNIONTOWN FREE METHODIST CHURCH, 300 Evans St., located at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Evans Street one block from the B.J. Mundel furniture store on Uniontown’s East End, in partnership with Sonlight Missions, is sponsoring a mission trip to San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico Jan. 17-31. They plan to construct a parsonage/church and minister in various ways in an orphanage and throughout the community through Vacation Bible School, evangelism, teaching, etc. The cost is $500 per person and includes all transportation, housing and food expenses.
