Nicholas Kacherski
Nicholas Kacherski, 80, of Carmichaels, Pa., died Tuesday, December 31, 2002 in Beverly HealthCare, Waynesburg, Pa. He was born October 9, 1922 in Grant Town, West Virginia, son of Max and Stella Kacherski.
Nicholas was a retired Coal Miner from Eastern Associated Mine in Grant Town, West Virginia.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army who served during World War II, attained the rank of Staff Sergeant, and received the Bronze Star in New Guinea.
He was a member of United Mine Workers of America and also American Legion Post 400 in Carmichaels, Pa.
On October 8, 1949, he married Irene Policz Kacherski, who survives.
Also surviving are three children: Nicholas Richard Kacherski, Jefferson, Pa., Daniel Max Kacherski, Rices Landing, Pa., and Judith Ann Kacherski, Carmichaels, Pa.; four granddaughters: Kimberly Grimes, Sharna Knapp, Ashley Kacherski, and Brandy Rohrer; and a sister, Pauline Duffala, Masontown, Pa.
A brother, Charles Kacherski, sisters, Vernie Fromm and Ann Yalowsky, and parents preceded him in death.
Friends will be received in the PAUL MICHAEL LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Pa., on Saturday, January 4, 2003 from Noon until 1 p.m. Funeral Service will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Nick Barto officiating.
Interment will follow in Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels, where Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 400 and V. F. W. Post 3491 both of Carmichaels.
The Family requests no flowers be sent to the Funeral Home.
