Edward E. Ercegovic Sr.
Edward E. Ercegovic Sr., 73, of Brownsville, Pa., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 1, 2003 in the Brownsville General Hospital. He was born on January 19, 1929 in Brier Hill, Pa., son of the late George Ercegovic and Stefania Brozovic Ercegovic.
He was a member of The Historic Church of St. Peter in Brownsville, Pa.
Mr. Ercegovic was a graduate of Redstone High School and also California University of Pennsylvania where he earned a Masters Degree in Education.
Edward spent his life helping others to better their lives through education.
In 1993 he retired from Seton Hill College where he served as Administrator of the Educational Talent Search Program.
Mr. Ercegovic was also retired from Penn State University, Fayette Campus.
He had also worked for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Department of Public Assistance.
Mr. Ercegovic was a member of The Knights of Columbus and also The Croatian Fraternal Union.
He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of American Legion Post 590, Republic, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Ivan, Joseph and Stephen Ercegovic; and two sisters, Pauline Ercegovic and Catherine Zeock.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Josephine Cuteri Ercegovic; one daughter, Stephanie Ercegovic Foster and her husband, Brian Foster, Westport, Connecticut; one son, Edward E. Ercegovic Jr., Pittsburgh, Pa.; one granddaughter, Adriana Ercegovic Foster; one sister, Mary Ercegovic Kanyok, Brownsville, Pa.; one brother, Thomas Ercegovic, Euclid, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, January 4, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., at which time a prayer service will be held.
A Funeral Mass follows at 11 a.m., in The Historic Church of St. Peter in Brownsville, with the Rev. Fr. Vincent Gigliotti as celebrant.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill. The Catholic Daughters will recite t Rosary today at 3 p.m.
