Odward J. Girard
Odward J. Girard, 89, of Masontown, Pa., died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, in Uniontown Hospital. He was born on April 20, 1913, in Uniontown, Pa., a son of Orlando and Tina (Marucchi) Girard.
His parents, and dear wife, Margaret “Margie” F. Girard preceded him in death.
Mr. Girard was a member and Past Elder of the Masontown Presbyterian Church, and had attended Carnegie Mellow University.
A well known businessman in Masontown, he was the owner and operator of Girard’s Clothing Store, until he retired in 1975, and was a past-president of the Second National Bank of Masontown, now know as Parkvale Bank. He was a member of the Masontown Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Exchange Club, was a life member of the Masonic Valley Lodge No. 459 of Masontown, a member of the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, and a 32nd Degree member of the Valley of Pittsburgh.
His warm sense of humor and wit, generous nature, and the desire to help others succeed in their endeavors reflected his spirit, and the special man that he was. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his son, Dr. Edward Core Girard and wife, Billie Ann of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Stephen Edward Girard and Sarah Elizabeth Haag and husband, G. Sean Haag, all of Pittsburgh; a brother, Mario Girard and wife, Clara of Masontown, Pa.; two sisters, Evelyn Mahoney of Connellsville, Pa., and Anita Andrews of Ocala, Fla.; and five nephews and a niece.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 515 North Main St., Masontown, Pa., on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. James Giesey officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
A Masonic Service will be performed on Sunday at 3:30 p.m., by the Valley Lodge No. 459.
