Thelma (Furin) Grote
Thelma I. (Furin) Grote, age 78, of New Salem, Pa., passed away Saturday, January 4, 2003 at her residence.
She was born August 26, 1924 in Uniontown, Pa., a daughter of Joseph Furin and Marie Lawrence Furin.
Thelma was a member of St. Procopius Roman Catholic Church in New Salem.
Her parents and a son-in-law, Arturo Romero, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Gilbert L. Grote; a daughter, Karen Romero, a son, Gilbert F. Grote and his wife, Donna, and two grandchildren, Alex Grote and Devan Grote, all of Uniontown, Pa.; a sister, Frances Moyer and her husband, Bud, and a brother, Joseph “Max” Furin and his wife, Patty, all of Lemont Furnace, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., 20 North Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday, January 7, until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.
A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in St. Procopius Roman Catholic Church, New Salem, with Rev. Fr. James L. Popochock as Celebrant.
Interment will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
Parish Wake Service will be held on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
