Female hormone problems can cause oral-health woes

n Brush teeth thoroughly twice a day and floss between all teeth, or use an interdental cleaner, at least once daily. Select oral care products that carry the ADA Seal of Acceptance, to be assured of safety and effectiveness. – See your dentist regularly for exams and professional cleanings.

– Ask your dentist about the use of anti-microbial mouth rinses.

– Eat a balanced diet and limit snacks. Improper or crash diets wreak havoc on teeth.

The American Medical Association also suggests you brush your tongue and gums with a soft-bristled brush when you brush your teeth, preferably after all meals and snacks.

Don’t delay if you show any signs of periodontal disease. Left untreated, it eventually leads to tooth loss.
