Walter Glenn “John” Sutton
Walter Glenn “John” Sutton, 75, of Smithfield, Pa., died Friday, January 10, 2003 in his residence. He was born March 10, 1927, in Fairchance, Pa., son of Jesse Sutton and Maggie Rhodes Sutton.
Walter was a Coal Miner for Duquesne Light Company’s Warwick Mine for many years until his retirement in 1985.
He attended Fairchance Free Methodist Church.
A brother, Philip W. Sutton Sr., and parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mildred Imogene Butler Sutton; two daughters: Carol Sutton Hatfield, Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and Nancy Sutton Tanner, Shoaf, Pa.; six grandchildren: James David Hatfield, Teresa Ann Hatfield, Kimberley Adams, Shelley Lynn Tanner, Beth Ann Tanner and Mark Reed Tanner Jr.; five great grandchildren: Ashley Dawn Adams, William John Adams III, Sabbath Faith Friend, Katlynn Sue Tanner and William Paul Price; sisters and brothers: Ann Hall, Sarah Boord, Ralph and Ida Sutton, Betty Swaney, Joan Golden, Marvin and Grace Sutton, and Belva and Harry Wilson all of the Fairchance area; nieces and nephews.
The Family will receive Friends at the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, January 14, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. Wayne Sawyer officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
