Fatal traffic accident
Charles S. Martin, 26, of Waynesburg was pronounced dead at the scene of a Tuesday morning accident on Route 221, just north of Lippencott, where he collided with a pick up truck that was towing a trailer, state police in Waynesburg said. The truck driver, Frank O’Leary, 47, of Prosperity was flown by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh with injuries, and a passenger in his vehicle was not injured. Police said Martin was traveling northbound in a Honda Civic at 7:55 a.m. when he crossed into the southbound lane where O’Leary was driving a Dodge Ram 2500. Greene County Coroner Gregory Rohanna pronounced Martin dead. Both vehicles had major damage, but the trailer was not damaged. Police said the accident is under investigation. Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department, Southwest EMS and PennDOT assisted at the scene.

Man arrested
Jason Shawn Henderson, 30, of 218 Whyel Avenue, Uniontown, was charged with kidnapping and other offenses for allegedly making Christina Morrison, 39, of Uniontown ride with him in his vehicle while he threatened her about their past relationship and threatened her into pointing a handgun at herself, state police said. The incident occurred on Dec. 31. Henderson posted $30,000 bail and was released Monday from the Fayette County Prison. Police also charged him with simple assault for allegedly hitting the same victim at her home on Jan. 9. He posted $5,000 bail for this case. A preliminary hearing for both cases is scheduled for Jan. 30 before District Justice Deberah Kula.

Driver fled
The unknown driver of a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo fled after the vehicle struck an embankment along a state road just east of Virgin Run Lake and overturned at 1:54 a.m. Tuesday, state police said. The Perry Township fire department also responded to the scene.

Sheriff’s 2002 report
The Fayette County sheriff’s office received 5,664 requests for service in 2002, according to Sheriff Gary Brownfield’s annual report. The report includes 778 complaints and summons, 456 landlord-tenant orders for possessions, 455 protection from abuse cases, 355 mortgage foreclosure complaints, 315 foreign writ services, 174 personal property executions, 27 writs of possessions, one petition, 2,813 new and renewed gun permits, 185 real estate sales, services and postings, 94 miscellaneous services requested, 63 bench warrants serviced, 560 prisoners transported, 37,106 miles traveled to transport prisoners, 1,924 hours of courthouse security, 1,924 hours of 911 center security, 574 hours of miscellaneous security and 956 hours of community relations programs. The report also states $181,305.90 was forwarded to the county and $94,580.61 was spent on services not reimbursed to the county.

Business vandalized
Someone broke outdoor lights and a window, and painted graffiti at Sweeney Rehab and Fitness at 180 N. Gallatin Avenue, city police said. The damages were reported 10 a.m. Monday.

Warrant arrest
Michael Lee Newman, 28, of 10 Shady Lane, Uniontown, was turned over to state police, who had a warrant for his arrest, following a 2:45 p.m. Monday incident at the American Ambulance building on Cleveland Avenue, city police said.

Man cited
Brian Giachetti, 32, of 34 Princeton Ave., Uniontown, was cited for disorderly conduct for allegedly causing a disturbance in the parking lot of DiMarco’s Bistro and Cantina on Morgantown Street at 10:38 p.m. Saturday, city police said. Police said he was involved in another incident at the restaurant earlier that night.

Charges filed
Police have filed charges against the following individuals in unrelated cases:
– Stephani Denise Kiss, 21, of 316 Bute Road, Uniontown, with disorderly conduct after she was allegedly found creating a disturbance at a North Prospect Street residence on Jan. 9.
– Samuel Franklin Miller, 26, of 230A E. South St., with public drunkenness after he was allegedly found in an intoxicated condition and creating a disturbance at Highlands Hospital on Jan. 7.

Money stolen
State police said a B.F.S. Foods Inc. employee allegedly damaged an automatic teller machine and stole money at the BP Gas Station along Route 188 sometime Jan. 3.

Vehicle crashes
State police said a vehicle operated by Trudy Martch, 51, of Pittsburgh crashed in snowy conditions along Interstate 79 at 5:30 p.m. Jan 6.
Jefferson
Man charged
State police said charges were filed against Randy Pyle, 43, of Clarksville for receiving stolen property after he allegedly was found committing a crime with a vehicle owned by Norman Ovidio, 54, of Marianna along Pine Street at 5:17 p.m. Sunday. Pyle was arraigned before District Justice Lee Watson and placed in the Greene County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bond, police said.

Charges pending
State police said charges are pending against a 20-year-old Waynesburg man after he was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol at the intersection of Route 88 and Cross Street at 2:45 a.m. Friday.

Ring stolen
State police said someone stole a diamond ring owned by Carol Roberts of Uniontown from her 206 David Drive residence between Oct. 15 and 7 p.m. Dec. 24.

Bank card stolen
State police said someone stole a National City Bank card owned by Amy Bowers, 19, of Uniontown and made purchases at stores throughout the Pittsburgh area totaling $2,971.64 between Nov. 25 and Dec. 19.

Woman struck
State police said a 58-year-old Vanderbilt man struck Dawn Colbert, 49, of Vanderbilt during an argument at a Pennsylvania Avenue residence Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Man hurt in crash
According to state police, Richard Cohen was treated at Highlands Hospital after the vehicle he was operating struck a guardrail along Route 119 Tuesday at 3:05 p.m.

Fence damaged
State police said an unknown driver struck a fence at 140 Rosy Hill Road at 9:40 p.m. Monday.

Man injured
According to state police, Clyde Angelo of Smithfield was treated at Uniontown Hospital after the vehicle he was driving crashed along Walnut Hill Road at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Tools stolen
Lonnie McKinney, 39, of Uniontown told state police that someone stole tools and a tool belt from his vehicle at his Easter Street residence between 6:30 p.m. Jan. 1 and 8 a.m. Jan. 9.

State police said someone stole groceries from the Fayette Plaza Giant Eagle between 4:15 and 4:20 p.m. Friday.

Windows damaged
Wayne Davison, 25, of Brownsville and Daniel Piccolomini, 49, of Cardale told state police that someone damaged windows at their residences between midnight Dec. 24 and 6 a.m. Dec. 25.

Window broken
State police said someone broke a window of a vehicle owned by David Wuyuk of Ambridge as it was parked at the Holiday Inn along Route 40 between midnight and 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Woman injured
State police said Laura Henry, 19, of Connellsville sustained minor injuries after the vehicle she was driving flipped over along a legislative route Monday at 4 p.m.

Vehicles collide
According to state police, vehicles operated by Daniel Durr, 22, of Normalville and Kara Shroyer, 22, of Mill Run collided along Stewarton Road at 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
