California meeting set The regular monthly meeting to discuss the proposed California Recreation Center will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at the California Municipal Building.
State Rep. Peter J. Daley (D-California) has been working with Mayor Galvie Gardner and California Borough Council to gather input on what residents would like to see at the proposed facility.

Finance seminar set
Jim Gwyer will host a retirement planning seminar, “Build Your Financial Future Today: Personal Finance Education,” at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the California Public Library, 100 Wood St., California.
Topics include focusing on retirement goals, considering one’s taxes, following time-tested strategies and allocating and protecting one’s assets. The seminar is free, but seating is limited. For reservations, call Gwyer at 724-938-3305.
