Ronald O. Hartzel
Ronald O. Hartzel, 69, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, in Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born Oct. 18, 1933, in Uniontown, the son of the late Oran Hartzel and Pearl Hominsky Hartzel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elma Michner Hartzel; an infant son, Ronald Joseph Hartzel; and two sisters, Eleanor H. Smith and Lorraine H. Miller.
Ron was retired as a mine foreman for U.S. Steel after 38 years of service.
He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, and the Frick Veterans Association.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Stella “Tammy” Hartzel; one son, Scott A. Hartzel of Biloxi, Miss.; two daughters, Kathy Berdar of New Salem, and Lt. Ronda Hartzel (U.S. Navy) stationed in Rota, Spain; two brothers, Rex M. Hartzel and wife, Nancy of Uniontown, and Gerald Hartzel and wife, Barbara of Fairchance; five grandchildren, Amee Turner, Scott and Collin Hartzel and Andy and Angie Berdar; and two great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Hannah Turner.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, Pa., where friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday until 9 a.m., when a prayer service will be held, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Joseph R.C. Church, with the Rev. Fr. Alexander J. Pleban as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa. The Parish Family Vigil Service by minister of Consolation will be held this evening at 7:30 p.m.
