Reminders
The Book Club will meet Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Community Library discussion on “Bel Canto” by Ann Patchett. On Feb. 24, the discussion will center on Sally Vicker’s, “Instances of the Number 3.”
Frazier Band hoagie sales will take place on Feb. 15, March 15 and April 19.
Sue Daniels is offering a six-week Tai Chi course from 8 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, from Monday to Feb. 24. Registration will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Call Sue at 724-736-4076 for more information.

The Perry Area Ambulance Service is still running the annual Ambulance Service Subscription. If you have lost your membership application or if you did not receive an application, please call 724-736-8100.
Jean’s Country Florals is closed and will reopen on Feb. 4.
Monica’s Harvest House is also closed and will reopen on Tuesday.
Recycle
Today is recycle day for Perryopolis borough. Tin cans, aluminum cans, plastic and glass should be rinsed. Magazines and newspapers and old telephone books should be bound with string.
Bring your recyclables to the borough garage between 10 a.m. and noon.
Band fund-raiser
The Frazier Band will hold a spaghetti dinner at the Perryopolis Sons of Italy from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tickets for adults are $5 and tickets for children, ages 10 and under, are $3. Bring your own containers for take out. Any questions can be directed to 724-326-8512.
Frazier Communities Group
The Frazier Communities Group will resume its monthly meetings on Tuesday at 10 a.m. on the upper level of the Frazier High School Library. Anyone interested in participating in the group is welcome to attend.
Library news
“The Rescue at Quecreek.” The Frazier Community Library will host Kevin Stricklin on Wednesday 7 p.m. in the library. Stricklin works for the federal government in the Mine Safety and Health Administration. He was instrumental in the Quecreek rescue operation and will speak on the rescue. Please plan to attend.
Frazier Youth
Frazier Youth Football is accepting applications for the 2003 season for both football and cheerleading coaches. Applications may be picked up at the Perryopolis Borough Building. All applications must be returned by Jan. 31. Please mail it to the address on the application.
911 reminders
Make sure that you put up the new 911 address signup as soon as possible. Make sure that you change the address on your Verizon bill. Contact all your magazine subscriptions, utilities and other bills, plus your friends and give them your new address.
The Ambulance Service is also still offering the white and green reflective address signs. The signs cost $15 each and are ordered with the address number from a professional sign company. It takes about three to four weeks to receive from the manufacturer.
K of C contest
Winners of the Knights of Columbus Annual Free Throw Competition at Frazier gym on Saturday are:
Age 10 – boys winner, Paul Kudyba III; girls winner, Caitlyn Ann Morgan.
Age 11 – boys winner, Jimmy Kline; Girls winner: Cara Fisher.
Age 12 – boys winner, Dustin Lerda; girls winner, Katelyn Oldham.
Age 13 – girls winner, Kris Joseph.
Age 14 – Boys winner, Tim Holt.
The District Competition will be held at Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Uniontown YMCA. Contestants should report at 6:30 p.m.

All Express Mail, Priority Mail and First Class Mail will be forwarded for one year. There is no charge for his service.
Magazines and newspapers are forwarded at no charge for 60 days.

There are discussion boards on everything from grandparenting to legal advice.
If you’re bored of these very cold nights, it’s a place to hang out on the corner without having to wear your mittens.
Book release
One of Crabby’s old college friends has written a book about the years they spent at Edinboro State College.
Eileen Beck, now of Texas, is the author of the book titled “The Presidents of Affa Lotta Krappa.” Eileen’s book is due to be released through Amazon.com on Jan. 24.
Eileen, Karen, Kay and Kathy invented their own sorority when they were freshmen and named it Affa Lotta Krappa.
Crabby was only an associate member of ALK and wants you to know, if you read this book that she did not do all the crazy things the other four did. Crabby was boring even then.
From the grapevine, Crabby heard that Eileen created a fictitious fifth member of the sorority, and made that character out of Crabby and several other college friends.
Crabby doesn’t know what the story is about, or if it has a plot, but it should be pretty silly if Eileen actually told the truth about the goofy things she and her friends did.
Lions Club
Last Wednesday, the Perryopolis Lions Club held their bi-monthly meeting at the Star Junction Methodist Church.
Members were treated to a very special speaker. It was Sarah Greenlee, the director of the Leo’s Club, a satellite of the Lions Club, directed for children between 8 and 18 years of age, for the purpose of introducing them to the joys of serving their community. It will help them well later in life when applying for a position or a college entrance.
Lion John Cernuska would like the Perryopolis Lions Club to get a Leo’s Club started in Perry, and after listening to the benefits to our children, everyone agreed that it is a must have idea.
The Lions will hold their Valentine dinner on Feb. 12 with a stellar show to be announced at the next meeting.
All members are urged to attend as Lion Raul Lopez will present the program for their approval.
