Ruth Baker McIntyre
Ruth Baker McIntyre, 80, of Centerville, Pa., died Thursday, January 16, 2003 following a brief illness. She was born May 31, 1922 in Richeyville, Pa., the only daughter of David C. Gurkin and Romaine Weaver Gurkin.
Mrs. McIntyre graduated in 1941 from Centerville High School and received a Bachelor of Education Degree from California University of Pennsylvania in 1945. She later pursued her education at the University of Michigan where she received a Masters Degree in Education in 1950.
She later lived abroad with the family in Mexico, Venezuela, Trinidad, Brazil, and Jamaica before making her home in Centerville.
Mrs. McIntyre was a member of Centerville United Methodist Church, Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705 Ladies Auxiliary in Centerville, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Harvey C. McIntyre (May 13, 1994), a son, Bob McIntyre (January 4, 2000), and her parents.
Surviving are two sons: Ralph B. McIntyre and his wife, Mary, of Oakmont, Pa., and David H. McIntyre and his wife, Darcy, of Denver, Colorado; one daughter, Ellen R. McIntyre Heagy and her husband, Rick Heagy, of Centerville, Pa.; and six grandchildren: Davey McIntyre, Tommy McIntyre, Kathleen McIntyre, Jakey McIntyre, Sydney Heagy and Kirsten Heagy.
Friends were received in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, Pa., on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, January 18, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Services were then held in the Funeral Home. The Rev. Edd Myers officiated.
Interment followed in Beallsville Cemetery.
