Georgene (Uphold) Wakefield, 67, of Friendsville, Maryland, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 18, 2003, from Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Maryland. Born July 28, 1935 in Friendsville, Maryland, she was a daughter of Gilbert and Bessie (Hinebaugh) Uphold.

Mrs. Wakefield was a member of Sand Spring Church of God and was a devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother.

One son, Terry Allen Wakefield, one brother, Woodrow Uphold, and parents preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Dewey; one son, Rick Wakefield and wife, Wendy, Oakland, Maryland; two daughters: Kathy and husband Paul VanSickle, Friendsville, Maryland and Carla Wakefield, Markleysburg, Pa.; four grandchildren: Eric VanSickle, Jason Wakefield, Nicole Wakefield and Holly Wakefield; two sisters: Emajean Kight, Eglon, West Virginia, and Matha Stull, Kingwood, West Virginia; and two brothers: Theodore Uphold and Roger Lee Uphold both of Oakland, Maryland.

Friends will be received at the NEWMAN FUNERAL HOMES P.A., 943 Second Avenue, Friendsville, Maryland, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 21, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Brown officiating.

Interment will be in Sand Spring Cemetery,
