Jonathan Rex Morris, age 83, of Garards Fort Road, Waynesburg, Pa., died Sunday, January 19, 2003 in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. Born September 2, 1919 in Waynesburg, Pa., he was the son of Jesse Hull Morris and Elizabeth Jane Davis Morris.

Mr. Morris was a lifelong resident of Fordyce where he operated a dairy farm.

He taught in the Mathematics Department at Mapletown High School for several years and had served as President of the teacher’s union.

Prior to becoming a teacher he had served on the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Greene School District.

He was a member of Fordyce Methodist Church where he served as Treasurer and Trustee.

Mr. Morris was also a Veteran of World War II.

A sister, Pauline Morris Orr, and his parents preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Hostetler Morris, whom he married July 12, 1942; one daughter, Kathleen Miller of Winter Haven, Florida; one son, John Morris of Waynesburg, Pa.; and two grandchildren: Rebecca Morris and Jonathan Morris.

The family will receive friends at the BEHM FUNERAL HOMES INC., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg, Pa., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Friday, January 24, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Henry Breakiron and Pastor James Lewis officiating.

Interment will follow in Garards Fort Cemetery.
