Man waives hearing
Donald Walker, 20, of Main Street, Fayette City, waived his right on Thursday to a preliminary hearing on charges involving a minor, according to District Justice Jessie Cramer’s office. Walker was arrested for aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors stemming from an incident that occurred on Dec. 22, when Walker was allegedly supposed to watch a 5-year-old girl at his house. Walker was placed in jail on a $30,000 straight cash bond. A court hearing is to be scheduled at a later date.

Crash reported
State police at Belle Vernon said Joseph Maruszewski of Smock was uninjured when he lost control of his truck on a snow-covered Route 51 and hit a tree. Police said Maruszewski, 53, first hit a guide rail, then his truck overturned in the 8:55 a.m. Thursday accident. Maruszewski was wearing a seat belt, said police.

State police said Lawrence J. Shotter of Uniontown escaped injury when he hit a guardrail along Walnut Hill Road around 11:05 p.m. Thursday. Shotter, 22, was driving a Pontiac Grand Am, said police.

Car stolen
James Adams of 16 Burlington Ave., Uniontown, told state police that his 1989 Chevrolet S-10 was stolen from the front of his home on Thursday between 12:30 a.m. and 6:25 a.m. The truck is blue with gray trim on the bottom and has the Pennsylvania license plate WR8516G.

Crash reported
State police said Ronald Nauiglia, 34, was uninjured when his car hit a tree along Route 21 around 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday. Nauiglia was driving a Jeep Wrangler.

Man charged
State police charged James Edwin Dray, 46, of Menallen Township with assaulting a 17-year-old boy inside a garage along National Pike Road on Jan. 19. Police alleged Dray punched the unidentified teen in the face.

Donald R. Hawkins, 38, and Max Harlan Seibert, 26, both of Smithfield, were cited for harassment after allegedly punching the face of Holly E. Hines, 23, of Smithfield during a fight outside a pub around 2 a.m., Saturday, city police said.

City police said around 5:45 a.m., Saturday, a black male, around 30 years old, was at the home of Melinda Davis at 22 Rear Millview St. and told the woman that he was from a phone company. The man proceeded to ask Davis personal questions and later, the same day, returned to Davis’ house, knocked on the window and wanted to be allowed inside. Police said the man left the residence in a gray vehicle.

City police reported Thursday the theft of a registration plate from the 1990 Chevrolet Blazer owned by Leonard Neill of 103 Easy St.
Police said the theft took place within the last two days.

Gun handed over
Edwin Tracy of 123 Park Ave. turned over a Smith & Wesson firearm to city police Thursday after discovering the gun belonged to his grandson who, resulting from an arrest, was required to surrender all firearms he owned. Tracy told police the gun was previously kept at his residence.

Around 10 p.m., Wednesday, John Thorpe of 72 Murray Ave. told city police someone wearing dark clothing knocked on the door of his residence, asked who was living there and then left the area.

Attempted robbery
City police reported someone attempted to rob Ralph Dickinson of 21 Apple St. for $5 at gunpoint as Dickinson walked to his car from a business on Austin Street around 10:30 p.m., Wednesday. Detective Phillip Jones is continuing the investigation into the crime, police said.

City police said Anna Mae Norris of 41 Lenox St. suffered a bruise to her forehead after someone known to her grabbed her by the back of the head and pushed her into a wooden window frame around 10:46 p.m., Wednesday.

James Edward Frazier was cited for criminal attempt, criminal conspiracy, criminal mischief/vandalism and possessing instruments of crime Wednesday after the alleged break-in of a vending machine.

Vehicle break-in
A Remington model 870 12-gauge pump shotgun, a gray plastic toolbox with various tools and about $10 in change were stolen from a vehicle owned by Duane Price, 44, of Connellsville, state police in Belle Vernon said. The vehicle was broken into at the Price residence in Smock between 1 and 10 a.m., Thursday.

Juveniles charged, banned
Three juvenile males were charged with disorderly conduct and harassment and banned from the Uniontown Mall following a 7:37 p.m., Friday incident, state police in Uniontown said. Police and mall security guards responded to a report of multiple juveniles engaging in a fight in front of Value City, police said. While fleeing from security guards, one of the juveniles knocked down and injured Angela Bost, 26, of Blacklick, police said. After they were detained by security guards, one of the juveniles shoved and threatened Earl Piper Jr., 55, of Uniontown, police said. Several other juveniles could also be charged, police said.

Flossie Virginia Ravenscroft of Smithfield told state police that $150 cash and a pill bag containing numerous pills was stolen during a party at 35 Fifth St. between 10:30 p.m. Thursday and 1 p.m. Friday.

Car rolled
Dale Cooper, 17, no address given, lost control of his car on the ice on Pechin Road, near Country Road, and struck an embankment, causing his car to roll onto its roof at 9 p.m. Friday, state police said. Neither the driver nor his passenger, whom police didn’t identify, was injured.

Beth Jenkins, 29, of Uniontown struck a wooden pole along Crawford Avenue, just south of Monarch Road, causing her sport utility vehicle to roll onto its side at 4:06 p.m., Wednesday, state police said. She suffered a minor injury, but her three children passengers were not hurt.

The unknown driver of a white passenger van traveling west on Route 201 hit a side mirror on an eastbound Freightliner truck driven by Mark Shimel of Frenchville at Route 819 at noon Friday, state police said. No injuries were reported.

An unknown driver fled after hitting a pickup truck owned by John Klink of Lemont Furnace when it was parked at 491 First St., between midnight Thursday and 5 a.m., Friday, state police said.

Hit-and-run crash
The unknown driver of a blue sedan sideswiped a van driven by Charles Hochar, 55, of Uniontown on Route 40 near TJ Enterprises, state police said. Police are investigating the incident and ask anybody with information to call the station at 724-439-7111.

Vehicles collide
William McCracken of Scenery Hill and Darwin Fike of Beallsville were involved in an accident at 8:10 p.m., Friday on Route 40, state police said. McCracken suffered a minor injury and was transported to Washington Hospital.

Norman Madison of Monessen lost control of his pickup truck on the snow-covered Route 51 in Waltersburg at 8:45 a.m., Friday and struck the center concrete median, state police said. He suffered a minor injury.

Traffic collision
Kevin Hardy, 36, of Dunbar and Brian Eberts, 42, of Chalk Hill were involved in an accident at the intersection of Furnace Hill and Hardy Hill roads at 9:24 a.m., Thursday, state police said. Hardy had a minor injury. Neither Eberts nor his child passenger were hurt.

Vaughn Gaines, 31, and Diana Brienza, 52, were involved in an accident on the northbound ramp from Route 40 to Route 119 at 6:17 p.m., Thursday, state police said. No injuries were reported.
