Centerville Council schedules pair of rezoning hearings Tuesday

By April Straughters 2 min read

Centerville Council will hold two different rezoning hearings on Tuesday for the areas of Low Hill and Richeyville Road. Council will hear requests from Mark Nesto and Mike Packrall at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The two are requesting a zoning change along Richeyville Road at the old Vesta Mine. Council will then hear requests from Robert Ventura for a zoning request at Ridge Road at Route 88, Low Hill, at 6:30 p.m.

Both hearings will be held in the borough’s municipal building.

Councilwoman Susan Zebley said she believes Packrall is planning to open a construction business at the old Vesta Mine.

She said Nesto is hoping to do something directly across the street where the old mine superintendent’s house is located.

She said she is not sure what his plans are for that area.

She said the land there is currently zoned residential, both are requesting it be zoned commercial.

She said she has not heard any opposition from residents on that request.

Zebley, however, does expect some opposition to a request from Robert Ventura to rezone Ridge Road at Route 88, Low Hill from Residential 2 to commercial.

“People will most likely oppose his request, because they have opposed things in the past,” Zebley said.

Zebley said a couple of months ago Low Hill residents complained about a request from Ventura to open a used car lot there.

She said Ventura’s request was denied at that time because land there is zoned R2.

Now, Ventura is requesting the area be rezoned.
