Tax credit announced
State Rep. Larry Roberts, D-South Union Township, announced that the Fayette County Community Action Agency will receive a $20,000 tax credit from the state Department of Community and Economic Development.
This community project will provide coordinated and comprehensive health and human services to approximately 40,000 people, or 17,000 families, in Fayette County. The people and families are served through a variety of programs, including senior centers, food banks, adult education, employment training, technology centers, family centers, case management and Community Action Medical Services.
The tax credit is part of DCED’s ongoing efforts to stimulate economic development in Pennsylvania.
Roberts also announced that he has a limited supply of 2003-04 Free Application for Federal Student Aid applications in his Uniontown and Connellsville offices at 31A Connellsville St. and 1402 Memorial Blvd. respectively.
According to Roberts, students who received a Pennsylvania State Grant during 2002-03 must submit their renewal FAFSA application by May 1. First-time applicants have until Aug. 1 to file their applications unless they plan to enroll in baccalaureate degree programs, in which case the deadline is May 1.
Roberts said FAFSA applications are also available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
