Sophia Goberni
Sophia (Bednarik) Goberni, 92, of Connellsville, Pa., and formerly of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at the Harmon House Care Center. She was born in Revere, Pa., and was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Fatula) Bednarik.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Goberni Sr., in 1981; and infant daughter; a sister, Ann Leposky; and brothers, John, William, Stephen, Michael and Andrew Bednarik.
Mrs. Goberni was a former employee of Metzler’s Department Store in Uniontown.
She was a lifelong member of Saint Mary (Nativity) Church in Uniontown, and a charter member of the Christian Mothers, the Altar-Rosary Society, The Golden Club, and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union Branch No. 68. She was also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary to the Firemen’s Association of Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her children, Paul J. Goberni Jr., and wife, Micki of Chambersburg, Pa., Mary Ann McKee and husband, Dr. Bryce of Sugarland, Texas, and Dr. Joseph Goberni and wife, Peggy of Connellsville, Pa.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Katherine Homistek of Uniontown.
Friends will be received in the STEPHN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, on Sunday from 2 to 5:30 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Monday until the Mass of Christian burial at a time to be announced. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
