James M. Elwell
James M. Elwell, age 81, of Vanderbilt, Pa., died Thursday, July 3, 2003 at 11:41 p.m. in Uniontown Hospital. He was born May 31, 1922 in Lincoln Place, Pa., son of Joseph Elwell and Celina Hess Elwell.
James was a member of East Liberty Presbyterian Church in Vanderbilt and Yough River Trail and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
James was a Veteran of World War II who served with the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doreen P. Elwell on July 25, 1992, two brothers, three sisters, and parents.
He is survived by two daughters and three sons: Patricia Elwell of Charlotte, North Carolina, Sandra Lamanna and friend, Mike Bateman, of Perryopolis, Pa., James R. Elwell and wife, Lynn, of Flatwoods, Pa., George M. Elwell and wife, Jackie, of Farmington, Pa., and Ronald P. Elwell and wife, Cheryl, of Dickerson Run, Pa.; beloved dog, Queen; 10 grandchildren: Ernest Jr., Kimberly, Nicole, Jeremy, Jennifer, Christopher, Jason, Rachael, Elizabeth, Brandon; three great grandsons: Tyler, Cameron, Colton; one brother and two sisters: Dale Elwell and wife, Gloria, of Layton, Pa., Mrs. Jack (Celina) Gardner of Gillespie, Pa., and Mrs. Obie (Patricia) Tharpe of Maryland.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 East Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa., today from 2 to 9 p.m. and Monday, July 7, until 10 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. Keith McIlwain officiating.
Entombment will follow in Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
Military Honors will be accorded by V. F. W. Goldstar Post 7023 and American Legion Post 752 both of Perryopolis.
