Four area men charged in connection with burglary
BULLSKIN TWP. – One man is jailed and three others remain free on bond in connection with a burglary of a township garage. Justin S. Ritch, 21, of Breakneck Road, Jason D. Basinger, 24, of Englishman Hill Road and Nicholas E. Sarver, 20, of Moyer Road are similarly charged with burglary, criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and theft while Joseph Striner, 23, of Dushane Avenue, is charged with receiving stolen property.
The four were arraigned before District Justice Robert Breakiron with Ritch being lodged in Fayette County Prison after failing to post the $10,000 percentage bond imposed during the hearing.
Basinger, Sarver and Striner were released on a $20,000 unsecured bond, respectively.
According to the police complaint filed by state police, Basinger, Ritch and Sarver allegedly went to the Moyer Road residence of James Daugherty and broke into the garage and removed 79 sections of aluminum fence, two fire extinguishers, a color television, two truck batteries, 400 feet of copper lead wire and 300 feet of copper main wire.
Police estimated the value of the property at $9,400.
Police said a few days after the burglary, the four took the merchandise to the Owensdale Scrap and Recycling Inc. where they were paid $274.35.
The four face an Aug. 19 preliminary hearing before Breakiron.
