Matthew A. Tobay, 95, of Dunbar, Pa., passed away at Uniontown Hospital on Sunday, July 6, 2003.

He was born May 24, 1908 in Laurel Hill, Pa., the son of the late John and Anna Tobay.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons Matthew Tobay Jr. and Sylvester Tobay; two brothers Walter and Stanley Tobay and a sister Eleanor Tobay.

He was a self-employed demolition man, a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society , the Polish American Club of Connellsville and the Polish National Alliance Lodge. He enjoyed dancing and was a jack of all trades.

He is survived by his wife Margaret C. Danko Tobay and a daughter Marlene Sylvia Long of Uniontown; four grandchildren; two special grandchildren Lorin and Marlaina Long and Jason and Erica Tobay ; two brothers Bennie Tobay and wife Helen of Cleveland, Ohio and Lawrence Tobay and wife Mary of Florida; two sisters Veronia Butkevich of Malden, Pa. and Mary Leja of Detroit, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown today from 7 to 9 p.m. and until 9 a.m., Thursday when Prayers of Transfer will be said followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m,. at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church with Rev. Fr. Alexander L. Pleban as Celebrant.

Interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hopwood.
