Connellsville Township clamping down on garbage/recycling agent
CONNELLSVILLE TWP. – The township’s garbage collector will receive notice from solicitor Gretchen Mundorff that it is not abiding by the terms and conditions outlined in the contract by neglecting to pick up garbage and recycling on the dates agreed upon, primarily that of Narrows Road residents. Tammy Mader, supervisor, said she has been inundated with telephone calls from Narrows Road residents who reported that their garbage is either being missed or not picked up at all on the days that Waste Management initially agreed to under the contract. “They have failed to comply with pick up on the correct days in addition to neglecting pick up,” said Mader.
Mundorff will send the letter to Management Asset Recovery Group, located in Mount Pleasant Township, regarding its failure to comply with the terms and conditions stipulated in the contract, which expires Dec. 31.
Mader said while she has continued to contact company representatives on the matter, she does not receive return calls or has been informed they switched drivers. “They give excuse after excuse,” said Mader.
In a separate matter, Mader and fellow supervisor Donald Hann approved a contract enabling the township’s three street department employees to be represented by the Teamsters Union. The employees are now required to ratify the contract which would go into effect immediately.
The supervisors also conducted the following business:
– Heard from resident Ted Hay regarding road restoration on Buttermore Boulevard that is still not completed by Shallenberger Construction Inc. of Connellsville, which was hired to install a sanitary sewer system in that area by the Bullskin Township/Connellsville Township Joint Sewerage Authority. Mader and Hann director Mundorff to submit a letter to Dick Widmer of Widmer Engineering concerning the matter.
– Adopted an emergency operation plan for the township.
– Agreed to have the township’s pension consultant conduct a cost of living study in conjunction with an increase for retired police officer Roger Adams.
