Lena Elma Lawson, 68, of 3149 Old Morgantown Road, Friendsville, Maryland, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at her residence. Born September 22, 1934 at Uniontown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Mary (Teats) Spaw. She was preceded in death by twin grandsons, Jason & Mark Lawson.

Mrs. Lawson was a homemaker and member of Sand Spring Church of God, Friendsville, MD; New Beginnings Covenant Church, Uniontown, PA; Friendsville Lions where she was Lion of the Year and awarded the Melvin Jones Award and a member of Martha Washington Chapter #10, O.E.S., Lonaconing, MD. Mrs. Lawson made 17 trips escorting children to the Shriners Hospitals in Philadelphia and 1 trip to Cincinnati.

She is survived by her husband, Marlin R. Lawson; two sons, Mark Lawson and wife, Kathy, Uniontown, PA; Michael Lawson and wife, Chantay, Friendsville, MD; two daughters, Sherry Fike and husband, Gene, Friendsville, MD; Nancy Lawson and companion Mike, Washington, PA; 1 brother, Roy Spaw and wife Leota, Mentor, OH; three sisters, Erma VanSickle and husband, Ralph, Farmington, PA: Mary Margaret Lowry and husband, Bert, Farmington, PA; Marlene Hynes, Amanda, OH; 10 grandchildren, Stacy Fike; Tammy Boises; Carrie Lawson; Jeremy Richter; Eric Richter; Danelle Fike; Adam Lawson; Hannah Fike; Catharine Lawson; Robert Lawson; four great-grandchildren, Brooke Lawson; Dakota Lawson; Tyler Richter; McKenzie Lawson.

Friends will be received at the NEWMAN FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 943 Second Avenue, Friendsville, today from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the Sand Spring Church of God on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark Lawson and Rev. Dennis Dawson officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Blooming Rose Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Richter, Eric Richter, Adam Richter, Stacy Fike, Greg Lawson, and Michael Lawson.

Martha Washington Chapter #10, O.E.S. will conduct a memorial service, Wednesday, at 7:00 p. m. in the funeral home.
