Asbury United Methodist announces new pastor

The congregation of Asbury United Methodist Church in Uniontown is announcing that it has a new pastor, the Rev. Thomas E. Brown. Rev. Brown has been married for 36 years to his wife, Sharon. They have three children: Tom, 34, lives in Moon Township, Kevin, 32, lives in Chicago, and Steven, 27, lives in Nicholasville, Ky.

Rev. Brown received his bachelor’s degree from Asbury College in 1966 and completed his master’s degree in divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1970.

His pastoral service includes Salem United Methodist Church in Sadieville, Ky., 1967-1970; Stoneboro United Methodist Church, 1970-73; First United Methodist Church in Clarion, Pa., 1973-75; Zion United Methodist Church in Elton, Pa., 1975-1984; West Washington United Methodist Church in Washington, Pa., 1984-1993; Trinity United Methodist Church in Brackenridge, Pa., 1993-2003.

Rev. Brown enjoys bike riding, deer hunting and computers.

Mrs. Brown is employed in a physical therapy office. In her leisure time, she enjoys playing the piano and hiking.

The Browns have been living in the church parsonage, located on Beeson Avenue, since early July.
