James D. Russell Jr., 76, of Hopwood, Pa., died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in Uniontown Hospital. He was born May 22, 1927, in Uniontown, Pa., a son of the late James D. Russell Sr., and Jeanette Marie Martin Russell.

Also preceding him in death were a son, James Wayne Russell and a brother, George Orlin Russell.

Surviving are his wife, Minnie J. Luckey Russell; two sons, Terence Ray Russell and his wife, Glenna of Uniontown, and Mark A. Russell and his wife, Cathy of Lemont Furnace; three grandchildren, Jeanette Marie Russell, Neil A. Russell and Erin Russell; and a great-granddaughter, Alexandria Smith.

Mr. Russell was a veteran of the Korean War, having served Honorably in the U.S. Army, was a former employee of the Solomon and Teslovich Construction Company, and a member of the UMWA.

Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Bill Moull officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
