Charles Ray Swanger
Charles Ray Swanger, age 82 years, a lifelong resident of Smithfield, Pa., died Friday, July 25, 2003 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born December 1, 1920 in Smithfield, Pa., son of the now late Grover C. Swanger and Bessie Clark Swanger.
Charles was a member of Smithfield United Methodist Church, more than 50-year member of the Nathan Lewis Fort Necessity Lodge No. 254 I.O.O.F., and a former member of the American Legion.
He was a Veteran of World War II who served with the United States Army Air Corps.
His beloved wife, Gwendolyn V. Holub Swanger, died July 30, 2002.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Roy Swanger, and two sisters, Mary Kathryn Swanger and Thelma Aileen Swanger Zentkovich.
He is survived by two daughters: Linda Proden of Smithfield and Nancy Brady and husband, Roger, of Smock, Pa.; two grandchildren: Penny Proden of Smithfield and Aaron Ray Proden and wife, Michelle, of North Carolina; one great granddaughter, Bailey Erin Proden; special niece, Mary Ann Brant and husband Terry, Smithfield; many other relatives and friends.
The Family received Friends in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME OF SMITHFIELD, Pa., on Sunday from 12 Noon to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Additional visitation today (Monday, July 28) in Smithfield United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Pastor Maggie J. Foreman officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant View I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithfield.

I.O.O.F. Lodge 254 held Ritualistic Services in the Funeral Home on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
