Homer H. Squires
Homer H. Squires, 98, of Haydentown, Smithfield, Pa., died Saturday, May 31, 2003 in Horizon Personal Care Home, Fairchance, Pa.
He was born May 19, 1905 in Newburg, West Virginia, son of Lucian Squires and Samantha Ball Squires.
Homer was an active member of Smithfield Senior Citizens and created “Homer’s Humor” weekly.
He was predeceased by his wife, Bessie Rankin Squires, son, James Franklin Squires, two sisters, Carrie LaRue and Dessie Pyles, three brothers, Pete, Ross and Staley Squires, and parents.
Surviving are his children: Eugene Squires and wife Yvonne, Amherst, Ohio, Gail Victor and husband Clifford, Smithfield, Pa., Wilma Jean Mace and husband William, Amherst, Ohio, and Helen “Babs” Squires, Smithfield, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Squires and wife Mary, Newburg, West Virginia; sister-in-law, Irene Squires, Amherst, Ohio; and his special friend, Betty Gower.
The Family will receive Friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, June 3, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. George W. McLaughlin officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
