Ruth ElaineBryson Gilchrist
Ruth Elaine Bryson Gilchrist, 81, of Uniontown, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, May 28, 2003. She was born in Uniontown, June 7, 1921, and was ten days away from her 82nd birthday.
Ruth was the only daughter of the late W. W. Bryson and Martha Jane Will Bryson.
In addition to her parents, four brothers, Ralph W. Bryson, James E. Bryson, Harold A. Bryson and Charles R. Bryson, also preceded her in death.
She was a retired Schoolteacher from North Union and Laurel Highlands School District who had taught for 30 years.
Ruth was a member of Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church in Dunbar, the Women’s Ever Ready Class of the church, and the Col. Andrew Lynn Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.
Her husband of 55 years, Lawrence W. Gilchrist, two children, Margaret Gilchrist of Morgantown, West Virginia, and John Gilchrist and wife, Susan, of Glendale, Arizona, and two grandsons, Matthew and Jason, both of Arizona, survive Ruth. Five nieces and nephews also survive her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., where Friends were received on Saturday, May 31, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, June 1, from Noon to 2 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Visitation will continue this morning, June 2, in Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church, Dunbar, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Services will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. D. W. “Chip” Norton officiating.
Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Presbyterian Cemetery.
